About the Festival

In One A-Chord: Lexington Sacred Music Festival is a week-long celebration featuring live sacred musical experiences, humanities lectures, theatrical and dance happenings, poetic readings and so much more! The festival is rooted in music’s power to heal and bring people together in community.

Sacred music allows us to celebrate not only what makes our community special, but it highlights our commonality and the beauty in what makes us unique and different. Something that in today’s world is an imperative.

The word “sacred” is not limited to confines of religion. “Sacred” means many different things to many different people and as such you will find In One A-Chord in churches, synagogues, places of peace, concert halls, historical venues, museums, libraries, outdoor venues and the like.

As we prepare for the next In One A-Chord Festival, we invite you to explore highlights from our inaugural celebration. Visit our 2025 Festival page to discover past performances, participating artists, photos, and stories that showcase the impact and success of the festival’s first year.

Where In One A-Chord began

In One A-Chord: Lexington Sacred Music Festival was envisioned and produced by Dr. Everett McCorvey in the Fall of 2025 as part of the 250LEX Celebration.  The festival included 25 musical events over 8 days with 900+ musicians participating and 3,300+ audience members.

Fashioned after the famous Spoleto Festival in South Carolina, McCorvey had dreamed of bringing something similar to Lexington, and felt with the birthday celebration the community was ready for a unique musical experience that included a multitude of religious and non-religious musical offerings, lectures, and learning opportunities for people of all ages.

McCorvey focused the inaugural In One A-Chord on downtown Lexington and the surrounding neighborhoods. Without the support of the music ministers, pastors, friends of 250LEX, UK music faculty, and a myriad of others, this festival would have never gotten off the ground.  But it did and it proved to be a huge success.

Throughout the inaugural festival we reminded audiences that music has the power to heal and the ability to bring people together in community.   It allows us to celebrate not only what makes Lexington special, but it highlights our commonality and the beauty in what makes us unique and different.  Something that in today’s world is an imperative.  Additionally, the word “sacred” is not limited to confines of religion.  “Sacred” means many different things to many different people and as such In One A-Chord was presented in churches, synagogues, places of peace, concert halls, historical venues, museums, libraries, and other non-religious venues.

It was an honor to be asked to produce In One A-Chord in 2025 and now we set our sights on 2026.
